This Weekend With Kids

I didn't see it coming, but this turned out to be a week that got away from us, leaving a stack of dishes and a pile of laundry behind it.

I'm relieved to have a couple of days to sort everything out again.

And if the chores get done, there are more good things to look forward to:

Ships Ahoy
As part of its Second Saturdays for Families series, the Haggin Museum is hosting an afternoon of crafts and other hands-on activities inspired by the American Society of Marine Artists exhibition, currently ongoing. Materials are included with the price of admission, and no reservations are required. From 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

SALUD Outreach
Student pharmacists from University of the Pacific will provide free health information and screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes. Health consultations (in English or Spanish) also will be available. Parking and admission and free. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at San Joaquin Delta College, 5151 Pacific. Ave., in Stockton.

Get Fit Lincoln Center
So, did you resolve to eat better, exercise more? This could be a good one. Sponsored by Dignity Health Medical Group, Lincoln Center's second-annual Get Fit event kicks off with a one-mile walk at 9 a.m. Saturday (registration begins at 8:30), followed by a health fair until noon. The $10 fee includes a long-sleeved T-shirt and discounts at select Lincoln Center businesses. Children's activities will be provided by First Tee of San Joaquin. At Pacific Avenue and Benjamin Holt Drive in Stockton.

Free Admission at Children's Museum of Stockton
Bring a non-perishable food item and enjoy free admission at Children's Museum of Stockton (one of our favorite places in town). Perhaps you might like to check out the recently refurbished toddler tractor? From noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
